Kuta

Everyone knows Kuta.  Since back in the early 70’s when ‘Hippies’ and sun bleached surfers began to descend on the place, it has gone from a sleepy little fishing village to a full blown westernized tourist beach resort. Famous for its long sandy beach, consistent surf waves and blazing sunsets, this area has seen dramatic development over the years, with world class hotels, luxury apartments, and trendy shopping malls.  

Kuta offers all kinds of accommodation, from cheap homestays up to 5 star luxury hotels and apartments, with many opting for rooms with ocean views.  There are a number of villas for short or long term lease, but most of these are further away from the beach, in the backstreets off the main roads.  Kuta has its good and bad areas to stay in, with the backpackers and younger visitors wanting to stay in the heart of the party zone, while families and older visitors opting for quieter areas. Investors have developed much of the land and if you are lucky to find any, prices can be pretty steep.
